Facility:Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment:Public Safety - Main Campus - 2nd ShiftSchedule:Full timeHours:40Job Details:To ensure the maximum public safety and security possible for the hospital during normal day-to-day operations, as well as during emergency situations. The Public Safety Team Lead/Armed (Sergeant) ensures enforcement of the hospital's public safety & security rules and regulations uniformly among patients, visitors, and hospital employees. Whenever possible, this will be exercised in a low key, professional manner consistent with the vision, mission, and core values of the hospital.

The Sergeant is responsible for ensuring an effective, hospital-wide program for observing, reporting, and mitigating violations of the law and hospital policy. The Sergeant is also responsible for supporting a risk management program designed to provide a physical environment free of hazards so as to reduce the risk of human injury. This position will collaborate interdepartmentally with all divisions of the hospital. In the absence of a Public Safety Supervisor (Lieutenant) the Sergeant may serve as a Shift Supervisor and dispatch all appropriate duties and responsibilities.
Department Specific Job Details:

Preferred

High School/GED

Associate of Arts (AA) Degree

3 to 4 years experience in Corrections, Facility Security, Law Enforcement, Military, Military Policing, Private Sector Security, or Public Safety.

A minimum of 1 to 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

OPOTA Private Security Course (or Law Enforcement Course) certification or similar certification/licensure. Completion of the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course within eight weeks of hire. Completion of firearms qualification course during orientation.

At least one Security, Military, or Law Enforcement instructor certification.
