evaluations and treatment of diverse populations Description:
Provides psychological services to patients, residents, consumers,
students, and inmates. Offers advice and consultation on
psychological matters. Conducts psychological and/or
neuropsychological evaluations and assessments. Administers,
scores, and interprets psychological tests. Reviews pre-admission
or pre-treatment data. Conducts interviews and writes evaluation
reports and treatment plans. Evaluates treatment plans developed by
others and assesses quality of service rendered. Coordinates
psychological services and programs. Assists with program
development and conducts research on psychological assessment and
treatment. Acts as a lead worker over lower-level psychological
services staff. Conducts individual and group counseling and
psychotherapy. Counsels on substance abuse, trauma, self-injury,
suicidal ideation, grief and loss, impulse control, family issues,
health issues, interpersonal issues, and criminal behavior. Follows
up on treatment and writes progress reports. Conducts psychological
evaluations and court-ordered forensic evaluations. Reviews patient
charts, past hospital records, prosecution files, court entries,
and indictments. Interviews direct care staff, individuals,
guardians, family members, attorneys, and/or case managers.
Conducts suicide risk assessments and participates in involuntary
medication hearings. Evaluates potential for suicide and consults
with psychiatrists. Conducts assessments and works with clients to
establish reasons for living. Teaches coping strategies. Diffuses
and de-escalates issues while role modeling positive behaviors.
Conducts ongoing assessments of inmates to identify and prevent
significant lethality risks. Provides psychological services to
offenders under oversight. Coordinates services between
institutional mental health services and community mental health
service providers. Completes re-entry accountability plans and
conducts home visits. Provides specialized therapies for offenders,
including aggression control and victim empathy. Provides
psychological treatment through psycho-educational classes and
time-limited group psychotherapy. Participates in treatment team
functions and provides technical assistance and guidance to team
members. Recommends policies and procedures for patient assessment,
evaluation, and treatment. Evaluates defendants for mental status
and competence to stand trial. Writes comprehensive forensic
reports and recommendations for courts. Responds to subpoenas and
appears in court as an expert witness on forensic and psychological
matters. Testifies in court regarding placement, guardianship, risk
assessment, and competency to stand trial. Writes discharge
summaries and behavioral recommendations for transitioning
individuals. Prepares statistical reports and graphs summarizing
behavioral progress and interventions. Acts as a liaison for
offenders with treatment teams, rules infraction boards, and unit
management staff. Reviews multiple charts, conducts interviews, and
writes risk assessment reports and treatment summaries. Serves as
an advisor on psychological matters for various divisions and
departments. Prepares materials for and participates in staff
development and in-service training. Requirements Required for
