Technician / Technologist Location: Lima, OH Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $809 per week Shift Information: Rotating - 4 days x 10 hours Contract Duration: 52 Weeks Start Date: 2/7/2026 About the Position Job Title: Psychiatric Attendant Profession: Psychiatric Attendant Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 52 weeks Shift: Multiple Hours per Shift: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Experience: Minimum years of experience required. License: Not specified Certifications: Not specified Must-Have: High school graduate or G.E.D. Description: Provides on-ward security functions over forensic patients in secure-care areas of a mental health institution. Conducts on-ward surveillance regarding safety and security. Escorts patients to and from off-ward activities or appointments such as meals, therapy, and recreational activities. Investigates incidents of patient misbehavior. Observes and monitors patient behavior during meals. Intervenes during crises to prevent self-injury or injury to others. Applies restraints or assists nursing staff in managing violent patients. Monitors patients in seclusion. Conducts searches of patient clothing, individual rooms, and ward areas for dangerous objects or unusual conditions. Prevents patient escapes. Provides direct care and treatment to forensic patients. Promotes activities on and off-ward through involvement and interaction with patients. Attends to personal hygiene and grooming needs as per treatment plans. Encourages independent functioning among patients. Conducts one-to-one sessions with patients to discuss problems or concerns. Serves meal trays and assists in administering treatments as directed. Prepares patients for psychiatric or medical treatment. Assists patients with basic needs such as bathing, feeding, and dressing. Leads patients in recreational activities. Maintains sanitary living conditions by performing general housekeeping duties. Documents patient and unit activities, including significant behaviors and incident reports. Completes work orders and maintains patient communication logs. Participates in in-service training and interdisciplinary team meetings. Responds to patient needs in emergency situations. Knowledge of policies and procedures related to forensic patient care and ward security is required. Ability to recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action is essential. Capable of dealing with problems involving several variables in a familiar context. Must possess the ability to read short sentences with concrete vocabulary. Unpredictable patient behavior and exposure to communicable diseases may occur. Work shifts may include weekends and holidays.
