Registered Nurse license Certifications: Relevant certifications as
required Must-Have: State ID or Driver's License Description:
Provides professional nursing care to patients housed in a
correctional facility or state-operated institution. Observes,
assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of
patients. Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs.
Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment
plans. Monitors patients, including those who are restrained, on a
timely basis. Provides immediate medical attention to emergencies.
Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals.
Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans
written by staff and trains new employees. Responsible for all
healthcare of bedridden patients. Organizes and oversees emergency
medical response teams. Acts as lead worker in charge of assigned
shifts when necessary. Performs clerical tasks, including
documenting medications and treatments. Completes required reports
and maintains inventory of medical supplies. Serves as a liaison
with other departments. Conducts and attends meetings as needed.
Demonstrates knowledge of professional registered nursing
procedures and regulations. Skilled in the operation of medical
equipment. Ability to write meaningful, concise, and accurate
reports. Demonstrates physical fitness to perform job duties.
